It's been nearly two years since Claire "Grimes" Boucher released new material. She's been working on her follow-up to 2012's stellar Visions, but has admittedly gotten bored holding on to all her new stuff. So, she went ahead and dropped "Go," the Blood Diamonds-assisted track she premiered at Governors Ball in early June.
"[sic] It’s our summer jam so we figured we should put it out cuz I am very bored of waiting to finish my album b4 releasing new music haha," reads the press release for the single. And, what a jam this is.
"Go" is decidedly different from the digital-witch vibes that dominated Visions, but that doesn't mean it doesn't work. Boucher's ethereal vocals have never sounded stronger. The production is trapped out, but this is her jam. It got the people moving at Gov Ball, and the studio version will likely do the same. If this is what we can expect from her next album, then consider our ears and interests piqued.
