Call it the dress that helped launch the pelvage (pelvis-cleavage, if you will) trend. Or, at least, it's launched one imitation. Kendall Jenner's double-slit, super-high-waisted Fausto Puglisi number might have been the kind of item to stun the masses last week, but at last night's BET Awards, it was Keke Palmer who toed the line between formal wear and underwear with a pelvic-bone-baring dress by Alon Livné.
However, not all peekaboo looks are created equal. While Jenner decided on a flowy, loincloth-like silhouette, Palmer's pick had a bit more structure. The white and metallic-gold creation offered a stiffer shape and a kind of open-window flash of skin.
But, bigger questions remain: How much power does the pelvage trend have? Are we currently in a time when high slits are just not high enough? And, does anyone (for the love of god) have any better suggestions for a nickname other than pelvage?
