This past weekend, we had the privilege of flying down to Savannah, to check out SCAD (the Savannah College of Art & Design). While we were there, we were able to attend one of the best student fashion shows we've ever seen (it ran the gamut from an entirely wearable neoprene collection to some Fiddler on the Roof-inspired menswear), tour the school's insane grounds (including some horseback riding), and check out the SCAD museum's beautiful exhibit dedicated to designer Ralph Rucci.
The highlight of the trip? Ahead of the fashion show, the school hosted an illuminating conversation with Vogue's André Leon Talley (an alum), Ralph Rucci, and Pulitzer Prize-winning fashion journalist, Robin Givhan. The three of them sat down for an hour for an intimate chat about the future of fashion, the role celebrities should play in the industry, and why "buzz" is so priceless, when it comes to making clothes. Ahead, the most memorable takeaways:

ALT, on the celeb-fashion relationship: "At one point, I thought the red carpet had almost killed fashion...but I actually think celebrities do a great deal for fashion. In fact, I can't think of anyone who can take away from fashion. Not even Kim Kardashian."
Rucci, chiming in about the realities of dressing celebs: "I do not not lend clothes out of elitism. But you have to ask, is there is stylist involved, before you send in racks of clothes."
And on the celebs he would (or wouldn't) love to dress: [I'd love to dress] "Tilda Swinton. There's substance there that allows the garment to be understood. But if you're dressing a Kardashian...well...I don't get this Kardashian thing. It's a moment."
Illuminating, no? Click through for some of our favorite looks from the fashion show, and share your thoughts on the great celebs-in-fashion debate, in the comments.
