We swooned collectively today when images were released of the new J.W.Anderson SS17 campaign, featuring the impossibly cool Chloë Sevigny. This was the moment when one of the industry's most lauded style icons teamed up with one of the industry's most celebrated designers.
Shot by photographer Jamie Hawkesworth and styled by Benjamin Bruno – both regular collaborators with Jonathan Anderson – the black and white images depict Sevigny sitting on a stool in two different outfits with the Pierce bag (the accessory every fashion girl either has or wants) dangling casually from her arm.
Last season, Instagram queen/supermodel Bella Hadid was the face of the Brit brand's AW16 campaign – arguably a surprisingly commercial choice for a niche label. For SS17, which was inspired by the Tudor court and overt masculinity, Anderson instead called upon Chloë Sevigny, adored for her experimental and sometimes tomboy style, to capture the essence of the collection. Chloë is evidently a loyal fan of the brand, wearing a custom-made J.W.Anderson gown for the Met Gala back in 2015. No stranger to modelling for fashion houses, Sevigny has previously starred in campaigns for Miu Miu and Chloé but these more natural and characteristically insouciant images of her are certainly some of our favourite to date.
