The Love Child of the Brazilian Blowout And Japanese Straightening: We Give You, The Japzilian

Yes, we said "Japzilian." Formulated by G-San, the resident straightening specialist at the Beverly Hills-based Joseph Martin Salon, it's the next buzz-worthy hair smoothing treatment—and just in time for summer's frizz-inducing humidity. Ideal for unruly or unbalanced curls (since curls are typically tighter underneath and in back) G-San first applies the Japanese Straightening formula to the hair to create uniformity, and then applies the Brazilian keratin method to deep condition, add shine, blend textures, and bring back movement and volume to the hair. The customized treatment is formaldehyde-free and lasts up to 5 months, but it also costs $500 and takes around 3 hours to complete. And as with all the Japanese Straightening, the treatment will grow out. But according to the salon, you can get Brazilian touch ups to smooth out any curly growth—and take note, the Japzilian is not recommended for all types of hair, so make sure you get a consultation.
Available only at the Joseph Martin Salon, 421 North Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills, 310-274-0100; Joseph Martin.
