The Braid That Stays Put For 96 Hours

Skim over to our beauty page, and you'll find tons of love for pretty pleated braids. But, if we had the choice between paying for a plaited 'do, or being able to master the DIY braid, we would gladly practice until perfect and save that cash. Until, that is, we spotted this total updo eye-candy in
NY Magazine
, a creation by the John Barrett Braid Bar which opened earlier this summer at Bergdorf Goodman. While it seems like $45 is a pretty steep amount to shell out for a 'do that could easily flop in a little summer heat, we think that price may be worth it—this particular beauty was reported to have lasted 96 hours, including pool dips, dancing, Amtrak rides, and a bunch of other raucous summer weekend activities. Perhaps our braids are pulled too tight, but suddenly we're thinking a John Barrett Braid Bar visit could be one of the best NYC summer beauty investment. What do you think? Would you pay $45 for a braid?
