It's finally happening — our lives as NYC shoppers will change forever and we just can't hold in our excitement any longer. Today, Peter Nordstrom (yeah, you guessed it, of Nordstrom) and Mayor Bloomberg are expected to announce plans to construct Nordstrom's first-ever New York City store, according to
Women's Wear Daily
.
That's right, no longer will we need to venture to Jersey to visit the legendary service-focused department chain, all it will take is a short walk to West 57th Street. Retail experts say that it will take at least two years to get the flagship store ready for business — with a space roughly around 300,000- square-feet, the retailer will be amongst one of New York's largest department stores (think bigger than Bergdorf's, but smaller than Saks).
Nordstrom's arrival marks the first department store to come to New York in quite some time, and we couldn't be more excited. So, mark your calendars — in two years you're going to be busy browsing the racks and to-die-for shoe department, right? Better start saving now! (WWD)
