Helmut Lang’s Newest Capsule Is Inspired By Game Of Thrones

gameofthrones
Since there isn't much that makes us think about the wars, betrayals, and intrigue of Westeros quite like a pair of killer, avant-garde wedges, we completely understand why LD Tuttle's capsule collection for Helmut Lang turns to the Game Of Thrones universe for inspiration. Wait, what?
Taking cues from those rugged guardians of the realm — The Night's Watch — designer Tiffany Tuttle created three angular, but slightly medieval, wedged heels and boots. While Jon Snow might not be a fashion muse to us all, Lang's dramatic fall '13 collection — heavy with pebbled leather, goat fur, and suede — does feel rather Westeros-friendly. So, for the line, Tuttle wanted to make something that evoked the "flora and fauna of the mystical forest." Though the capsule collection doesn't come branded with wolves or lions or stags, the shoes themselves do feel rather whimsical (but cost a very real $695 stags). And, if we transported the world of fashion into The Seven Kingdoms, Helmut Lang would totally be the northern-bound Starks. (Plush, bright Dolce & Gabbana would so be the Lannisters, right? Hey, a girl can dream ...) (Racked)
