Updos have gotta be one of the trickiest styles out there (except these, of course). Too many of us have the memory (solidified in copious amounts of gel and hair spray) of a glittery, rhinestoned prom at which the dress paled in comparison to the towering hairstyle that may or may not have included several fake hairpieces. Leave it to Kate Middleton to take the trademark style of senior proms from Midwestern suburban high schools and turn it into something classy and sophisticated.

The duchess of Cambridge looked her usual put-together self at an event in London, adding some edge to her sleek hairstyle with an icy blue Roksanda Ilincic dress. She really went all the way with the post-prom thing, and her diamond earrings were a much higher-end version of the cubic zirconium studs most girls would've paired with the look.
