Random, But Not Really: P!nk Is The Newest CoverGirl

Pink_covergirl_main
We usually associate P!nk with pop-punk, feminism, and hair gel — not necessarily aspirational beauty. We'd never peg her as the face of a beauty brand, because she herself has made it clear that she won't allow her persona or her music to fit into any cookie-cutter mold. So, when we heard that she was set to be the newest face for CoverGirl, the first word that sprang to mind for us was: random. But then we stopped and really thought about this partnership, and quite honestly, the idea quickly started to grow on us. These days, it takes more than just a pretty face to sell us on any product, and P!nk has the looks and the badass attitude to match.

The company's VP raved about the partnership, saying her "combination of irreverence and integrity is exactly what the CoverGirl brand loves about her and identifies with," and we have to agree. Besides the fact that she's been a long-standing member of our most repeated playlists, P!nk is one of the few mainstream stars to write all her own music. She's never too shy to scream and shout about women's equality and body image issues.
Joining fellow spokeswomen Sofia Vergara, Drew Barrymore, Queen Latifah, and Ellen DeGeneres, P!nk's new venture is just proof that this is one brand that's actually committed to diversity — in looks and personality. Though she may be an unexpected choice, we think it's very refreshing to see someone other than a shiny-haired, practically faceless celebrity or model in the makeup aisle. P!nk really stands for something, and the fact that she and CoverGirl are working together is a progressive move for both parties. We think this is a pretty big step on the long, long road to embracing all kinds of beauty. Do you agree?
