NARS Announces Warhol Collection. We. Can’t. Wait.

The life and work of Andy Warhol has inspired countless minds in the beauty world, but leave it to NARS to take this one full tilt.
WWD
announced this morning that NARS' holiday collection will not only be inspired by Warhol, but will also feature packaging and imprints of his work direct from the archive. The new line is cloaked in signature Warhol prints and photographs (Edie's face on a compact, for instance). This is the first time Nars has strayed so far from its signature matte black packaging. But hey, if you're going to forgo your trademark look, you might as well go all out, right?

Inspired by three of Warhol's most memorable muses — Edie Sedgwick, Debbie Harry, and transsexual film star Candy Darling — the collection is broken up into two stories. The Pop Art line will be exclusively available at Sephora starting in October and includes bright, vibrant colors. Look out for his famous gridded portrait of Harry to grace the packaging as well as a Cheek and Eye Palette and Lip Gloss Coffret housing five limited edition shades.
The Factory, available in November, will be exclusive to department stores, and aims to capture the glamour and sophistication of Warhol's Factory. You'll see Sedgwick-inspired colors (Chelsea Girl matte lipstick and Edie eyeshadows) as well Darling's iconic Nat Finkelstein portrait gracing a limited-edition makeup bag.
We're obsessing over the film canister and Flowers print packaging and can't wait to get our hands on the new, aptly named Silver Factory Multiple. “Why not Andy Warhol?” asks François Nars. We couldn't have said it better ourselves. (WWD).
