Ripped-up plaids may be Vivienne Westwood's specialty, but that doesn't mean she can't design tiaras. The designer rolled out the Gainsborough Collection (fronted by Georgia May Jagger) in Paris this week, which featured delicate, trompe l'oeil palladium creations including a tiara, necklaces, and diamond and sapphire earrings.
But tiaras — aren't those reserved for brides and princesses? Why on earth is a scruffy, punky personality like Vivienne Westwood designing such a thing? Well, the lady's got an explanation for everything: “You can just have quite messy hair, and just shove a couple of grips in it, and have this tiara and a scruffy little dress or whatever. It’s a way of dressing. You can wear rubbish and you can just put that on and it does something for your hair and everything, so I like tiaras.” Noted. Next time we're going to a hardcore show, we'll definitely bring our daintiest diadems. (WWD)
