We're no stranger to the somewhat "wait...what?" phenomenon of supermodels' progenies following in their mother's footsteps — who could forget Cindy Crawford's 10-year-old girl modeling for Versace?
Well, the latest family affair stars Anna Nicole Smith's daughter, Dannielyn Birkhead, in a campaign for Guess Kids. We're always a little wary of the effects of childhood stardom (Miss Birkhead is just six), meaning we're not exactly sure what to make of the move. The shots eerily replicate some of Nicole Smith's own Guess shots, which dad Larry Birkhead says is "Dannielynn's way of paying tribute to her mom in her own special way." Birkhead's logic is that when she sees her mother's old ads, she'll say "'Hey, I was a Guess Kids girl, my mommy was a Guess girl,'" which he explains as possibly "her only connection with her mom."
While we can't deny that the beautiful Dannielynn bears more than a passing resemblance to mom, we're not sure whether, in hindsight, she'll judge dad's decision as moving or macabre. Birkhead senior is betting on the latter, telling Good Morning America, “My goal for her is for her to be a child and just do what all kids do." An admirable notion, for sure.
