Okay, we guess we're not that surprised. Betsey Johnson doesn't exactly exude "low maintenance," and girl's got a 'do that can't be easy to maintain without professional help. So, as shocking as a $20,000 price tag is, when the outgoing designer made the admission during a recent interview, it just seemed par for the course.
Of course, being Betsey, that wasn't the only juicy piece of gossip she let slip. When she sat down with Fern Mallis as part of Martini Sparkling Wines' Fashion Icon event at the 92nd Street Y (while drinking bubbly, of course), she opened up about everything from her battles with breast cancer and bankruptcy (maybe the hairstylist's bill had something to do with it?) to her talent for "cutting a good crotch" — after kicking off the night with a cartwheel entrance, naturally. Johnson also credited her fans for keeping her (relatively) sane during the tricky times, as well as longtime pal Steve Madden for resuscitating the business.
While the designer's flair for the eccentrics certainly isn't for everybody, we can't get enough of this perfectly kooky woman — you can bet we'll be tuning into her soon-to-come small screen debut. (MediaBistro)
