Besides the editor-in-chief, some of the job titles at the tippy-top of the masthead may seem like a mystery. Does an editor at large report to the editorial director or, perhaps, just appears on camera with a celebrity once a month at the bequest of the executive editor? And what about a global fashion director? Carine Roitfeld's new title at Harper's Bazaar is a confusing one, especially considering she's running her own publication.
But, her first editorial running in this March issue shows that Roitfeld's not really just phoning it in. Titled "Carine on the Collection," the 16-page editorial explores the important spring trends as represented through 18 designers, including Alexander Wang, Azzedine Alaïa, Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière, Céline, Chanel, Christopher Kane, Comme des Garçons, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Emporio Armani, Fendi, Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci, J.W. Anderson, Jil Sander, Louis Vuitton, Max Mara, Miu Miu, Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane, and Tom Ford (if that's not a who's-who list of fashion's elite, we don't know what is). Working alongside Stephen Gan and photographer Kacper Kasprzyk, Roitfeld styled Stephanie Seymour, Joan Smalls, Lara Stone, and more in her signature off-kilter, sexy looks.
