We're all familiar with the movie star-turned-singer story. Lindsay Lohan took a stab at it. Zooey Deschanel has succeeded in balancing both titles. J. Lo has had success in both worlds. Even Scarlett Johansson did a Tom Waits cover album and teamed up with Pete Yorn for a few tracks. It's a story that's, frankly, hit or miss. Yet, perhaps due to her starring role as Christine, an opera ghost's ingenue in the 2004 film adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera, Emmy Rossum has slowly but earnestly worked her way into the music scene. She released an Annie Lennox-inspired pop album back in 2007 and just dropped her second LP, late last month.

The opera-trained chanteuse chose a different (but no less ambitious) direction for Sentimental Journey, her newest album. Covering twelve standards from the '20s to the '60s, each tune tackles the 12 months of the year. Her goal was to create a musical journey through each season. Along with the album, the Shamless star shot a musical calendar that corresponds with each track, embodying a classical take on each month of the year. For February, Rossum explains that she wanted to "create a pin-up Valentine's day image for the calendar." Her life-size valentine is a cheeky wink and a nod to the nostalgia and soft feminine beauty of the '30s.
We have an exclusive behind-the-scenes video into Rossum's calendar shoot above, where we witness the lovely, bedroom-eyed Rossum show off her nostalgic looks. She already proved she can sing opera, she snagged Jake Gyllenhaal at the end of the world, and she's set to star alongside power-houses Viola Davis and Jeremy Irons in this year's fantasy film, Beautiful Creatures. Though the video is only a glimpse of each photo shoot, it's incredible to see the singer/actress transform into a vintage beauty, again, and again, and again.
