Beyoncé Scores At Super Bowl, But Madonna Still Reigns Supreme In Ratings

beyonce-ratings
Not to take anything away from Bey's amazing halftime extravaganza, but the rising Princess of Pop still gives up a slight edge to The Queen. Even with guest appearances by her sisters in Destiny's Child and more hair swinging, hip shaking, and yowling than an entire Carnaval parade combined, Beyoncé was unable to outdraw Madonna's own 2012 Super Bowl spectacular. This year, Mrs. Carter drew 48.2 million watchers during halftime. No mean feat, but Madge set a record with 112.5 million — double Bey's number. Certainly, the fact that Madonna has 30 years in the game didn't hurt and, remember folks, at 54, she's still the No 1. worldwide concert draw. As well, we all knew that Beyoncé would strut her stuff, sing her songs, and generally kill it. Madonna, on the other hand, is an unknown factor. With decades of touching nerves, creating controversy, and generally playing the media like a marionette, she had an entire nation tuning in to see just what the heck she was going to do. Nice try, Bey, but the queen is still the queen. (Huffington Post)
