Christopher Guerrero, a 27-year-old USC grad student, drafted his entire thesis script with Bill Murray in mind as the flick's main character. Of course, Guerrero has never spoken to the Hollywood heavyweight — so rather than scrapping the decision altogether, he has attempted to reach out to Murray in a very Murray manner, by petitioning for a holiday in his honor. Convincing the U.S. government to replace Groundhog Day with Los Angeles Bill Murray Appreciation Day (a.k.a. BMAD) predictably failed, so he will continue with the original shooting schedule, which begins in May. He'll likely cast another actor for the part of the chancellor in You Had Me at Goodbye (he's also open to Ted Danson or Dustin Hoffman taking on the role), but hasn't given up hope on the
Lost In Translation
star (Murray apparently left Sofia Coppola hanging, too!). One thing's for sure, this student gets an A for effort! (LA Weekly)
