Rihanna's the word on everyone's lips right now, and it's not just because of the usual sensation of her very personal Instagram photos. Fresh off the runway show for her River Island collection (see all the grunge-y goodness here), the singer has inked a collaboration with MAC.
As WWD reports, a venture of this size — made up of four distinct color lines set to roll out throughout 2013 — is major for both Rihanna and MAC. This is the brand's first foray into a longer-term partnership with a celebrity. The partnership, called RiRi Hearts MAC, kicks off with a signature red lippie based on the brand's famous staple, Ruby Woo. RiRi Woo will be sold with all four chapters of the collaboration, which include Lipglass, blush, and false eyelashes (Rihanna apparently likes to wear two pairs at once).

“Being creative is something that I love, so I can put that into different outlets," Rihanna told WWD. "Music happens to be the first thing that I gravitated to, and now music opens doors to just so many different opportunities, and they all tie in. My makeup looks, my fashion looks…they help me to express myself as an artist. I think it helps people to understand me or my mood, my story.”
When asked whether her controversial personal life would pose a problem to the collaboration's image, which they're calling a truly organic creative endeavor "based on mutual admiration and respect," MAC was quick to the point: “She’s a grown woman, and whatever makes her happy makes us happy. Life’s complicated. Far be it for us to judge.” Stay tuned for the ad campaign shot by Mert and Marcus, coming out any day now. And of course, as any true fan knows, it all begins with her birthday today. Quite a way to celebrate.
