Indie designer Peter Jensen has long been a favourite of ours. Every collection feels like it's developed around a theme that translates into clothes featuring quirky color palettes and conceptual tailoring, all sparkling with originality. Where do these thematic inspirations come from, you ask? Women, of course.
Over the years, the designer has cast Sissy Spacek, Cindy Sherman, Helena Rubenstein, and even Tonya Harding in the role of muse. But this season, it is the abstract sculptor Barbara Hepworth who has captured his imagination. The legendary sculptor’s organic shapes and abstract drawings are evident across the board in his spring designs. Want to know how this translates into clothes one can actually wear? Speak to the man himself. He’ll be exhibiting his collection at the Hepworth Gallery on March 27 and talking about the relationship between this work and the late sculptor’s. Who's up for a day trip?
