It’s really not an overstatement to say that practically all of S.F. has been patiently (some not so patiently) waiting for the Divisadero Street Bi-Rite to swing open. And while we were told we’d have to wait until this Wednesday, the local grocer has surprised us a bit and actually opened earlier than planned. According to SFist, the new location opened yesterday, Sunday, March 11, at 4 p.m., and, naturally, was greeted with a line stretching around the block.
Equipped with a cut-to-order cheese counter and ice-cream shop inside, the new market definitely ups the ante, but as owner Sam Mogannum told us — it still aims to maintain the community-focused values Bi-Rite believes in.
If you haven’t scoped it out yet (or just peeped it while under construction), be sure to mosey over to 550 Divisadero Street to see the shiny-new space in all its glory, right now! (SFist)
