Anne Hathaway's dialect coach certainly has her work cut out for her! After the star's Oscar-winning turn as Fantine in Les Mis, Hathaway may be brushing up on another European accent tout de suite. According to the British press, the role of Eliza Doolittle in the film remake of My Fair Lady is quickly becoming a reality for the gamine, and it's actually quite fitting considering that another doe-eyed leading lady (a.k.a. Audrey Hepburn) snagged the same gig nearly a half-century prior.
Although nothing's officially on the books (meaning Hathaway's IMDb page has yet to be updated), people are already weighing in on her ability to nail the cockney accent. But, the only opinion that truly matters is that of Cameron Mackintosh, the theatrical guru responsible for this production and a major producer on Les Mis (obviously, he's not one of the Hatha-haters!). He's totally onboard with her casting, and hopes her presence will recreate a similar success to the one she enjoyed earlier this year.

Well, if her transformation from Mia Thermopolis to the Princess of Genovia is any indication, Hathaway should have no trouble nailing another rags-to-riches role. Now, repeat after us: The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain! (The Sun)
