Voilà: Michelle Obama’s Latest Vogue Cover Story

Forget all those tantalizing rumors — this is the real thing. Michelle Obama's second Vogue story went live at 12:01 a.m., and, as ever, she's looking great. Mr. Obama (you know, the president or whatever) also makes an appearance in this issue, as the duo talk about their marriage, their family, and being a "very different kind of president and first lady," as photographer Annie Leibovitz so nicely puts it.

And just as the Internet predicted, Michelle is wearing Reed Krakoff. When grilled on their relatively low-key presence compared to social butterflies like the Clintons and the Reagans, Michelle smoothly replies that, on a personal level, keeping the family "whole" is the number-one goal for her and her husband. Of course, the girls are growing up fast, and the prez notes that "now that they want less time with us, who knows? Maybe you’ll see us out in the clubs." As much of a joy as that would be for the party people of D.C., it probably won't happen, mainly because — his words — the president did "an awful lot of socializing in my teens and 20s." The pair goes on to reminisce about dumpy apartments, life as working parents, and forcing the Secret Service to become more flexible as they make every effort to provide a normal life for Sasha and Malia. The Obamas are no strangers to public exposés of their aww-inducing personal life, and plenty of people have complained that they should be talking politics, not parenting, but this article is still pretty irresistible. But that's not to say it completely sidesteps the whole presidency thing. As the author notes, Michelle and Barack have an "unusually close partnership and decision-making process," but Michelle's priority is always her children, and dealing with raising them in the midst of a life that, as Barack says, "was not necessarily what she envisioned for herself."
