Considering she pretty much pioneered the stylist-slash-reality-show-star genre, it was only a matter of time before colleagues (and former employees!) followed Rachel Zoe's footsteps Chanel trail. In order to stay one step ahead of the competition, though, Zoe expanded her empire to include a fashion line and hair salon — savvy moves, for sure. But, rumors are swirling that The Rachel Zoe Project, now in its fifth season, may shutter due to poor ratings (last week's episode pulled in the lowest amount of viewers in the show's history, according to BravoRatings.com).
Also, it seems like Brad Goreski's show isn't racking the style-obsessed viewers, either — last season, the spin-off garnered an average audience of 820,875, while the current run is clocking much less: just 578,200. So, what's the big deal? For one, Bravo's Real Housewives franchise is a runaway success with loads of drama — something the stylist-centric shows are missing these days. One Radar insider reported, "the audience has also complained that Rachel has surrounded herself with ‘yes’ people, unlike her previous employees." So, we gather that those who tuned out aren't enthralled by Rachel and Rodger's Manhattan house hunt, but the glory (read: catty) days of dressing Hollywood's A-listers. Here's to hoping for a season six, with one suggestion: Bring back the pre-red carpet meltdowns — we can't even express how much we miss those moments! (The Cut)
