By now, the annual Tweed Ride and Seersucker Social outings are D.C. traditions — and the whole point is to be old-fashioned and quirky. But isn't it about time that an organized bike ride felt really new and cool? The folks behind DC Bike Party are doing their part by giving their monthly community ride a Daft Punk-inspired robot theme. Yep, you read that right: On May 8, you can don your best /Tron-inspired outfits, meet up with 450 fellow riders, and peddle an eight-mile route through D.C. The best part? Since the ride is celebrating the release of the duo's highly-anticipated new album, Random Access Memories, a pedicab-ensconced DJ will play a Daft Punk mix. We don't know about you, but this sounds like a pretty fun Wednesday night to us.
When: Wednesday, May 8.
Where: Meet at Dupont Circle at 7:30 p.m.; ride departs at 8 p.m.
