This Zany, Three-Month-Long, Pop-Up Bar Keeps Frieze Going All Spring

Whether its Cheers or Central Perk, everyone has a go-to place that makes them feel at home. It might be the drinks, it might be the decor...but something about the spot just clicks.
For Tobias Rehberger, that spot is Frankfurt's Bar Oppenheimer. And so, to simultaneously celebrate Frieze New York and pay homage to his home away from home, Rehberger has recreated the bar in collaboration with Pilar Corrias, London at the Hôtel Americano in Chelsea.
Both a sculptural piece of art and a fully functioning bar, the Tobias Rehberger Bar Oppenheimer toys with space and dimension, pairing carefully selected bar stools, glassware, and light fixtures with eye-widening wall patterns. Rehberger hopes that, much like the German original, this space will serve as a venue for creative thinkers to meet, discuss, debate, and, of course, drink, late into the night. But don't wait too long to see whether his wish comes true — the bar will remain open daily from 5 p.m. onward for only three months. Hesitate and you'll be saying auf wiedersehen before you know it.
