If nothing else, the recent beyond-viral Dove ad campaign aimed to prove that women are their own worst critics started a lot of talk. And parodies. And now, xoVain is getting in on it.
The staffers called in a sketch artist to recreate the set-up, under the premise that they — like most women — have moments of insecurity but, overall, are more than just a trembling puddle of self-loathing. And what happens here is just as interesting as the original video. The writer of the piece calls the Dove video "deviously manipulative," and mentions the oft-cited University of Virginia/University of Chicago study which proved that most people actually think they're much better looking than they are. If you ask us, as with most things, the average woman lands somewhere in the middle — not unlike the ladies of xoVain, and R29, for that matter.
