Austra, Mozart's Sister: Music Hall of Williamsburg, June 20, $20
Katie Stelmanis and Co. are back with another LP of lush, wonderful pop as Austra. While the band's last album was a mostly solo venture from Stelmanis, Olympia sees Austra making music as a fully-realized group with a bright, house-inspired, new sound — perfect for its fantastic live show.
Thursday, June 20, 8 p.m., Music Hall of Williamsburg, 66 North Sixth Street (between Kent and Wythe avenues); Brooklyn; 718-486-5400.
Full Moon: Miami Horror, Tanlines, Wild Belle, Yuksek, Cyril Hahn, The Dolls, Float Fall, JDH & Dave P, The Deep, The Knocks, Little Daylight, Antoine Karl and the Woofgang, Geoff Renaud: Governors Island, June 22, $47.50
You can talk about "summer jams" all you want, but until you've partied on a beach on a real island, it's all just theoretical. This year's third-annual Full Moon has a whole day of great music at NYC's favorite, easy-access, offshore playground. Inspired by Thailand's full-moon parties, this should be a great time, rain permitting.
June 22, 4 p.m., The Beach at Governors Island, New York.
Tropfest Chairlift, Neon Indian (DJ Set), Bear in Heaven, Ghost Beach, People Get Ready: Prospect Park, June 22, FREE with RSVP
If you don't feel like venturing to Governors Island, Tropfest is another great bet for Saturday. Featuring a slew of awesome acts playing in the middle of the Brooklyn's Prospect Park, the FREE festival should make for a nice afternoon. And be sure to stick around afterward as the film-fest component continues.
June 22, 3 p.m. The Nethermead at Prospect Park, Brooklyn.
