Living in London means we are constantly standing in historical places, even if we may not know it right away (remember that moment when you first realised you were standing on top of a former plague pit, while walking through a marketplace?). And though our meanderings may take us through sites of important events, we have only been able to imagine them — until now. BuzzFeed has gathered 18 epic photos that place historic events in their current-day surrounding, and let us just say, it's really, really awesome.
The roundup shows dramatic changes, like the frozen Thames of 1677, as well as things that have remained the same, like Patisserie Valerie, which has kept the same home (and signage!) on Frith Street since 1926. Aside from being extremely cool to look at, the photos also come with a small explanation of the events that took place. We just got a whole new appreciation for our city. (BuzzFeed)
