After months of hiding, a hip surgery, and recovering in a 24-karat wheelchair, Lady Gaga made her triumphant return to the spotlight this past weekend by opening New York City's Gay Pride rally. Taking the stage at Pier 26, Gaga gave a moving speech recounting her struggles growing up, the pressure to conform, and how the LGBT community ultimately gave her the space and confidence she needed to grow into herself. "I knew you then, I knew you when, but I really know you now," Gaga said before launching into a chilling version of the National Anthem. If anyone says the girl can't sing, show them this video. There's no backup track here. It's pure, a capella Lady Gaga, and she nails every note. Plus, she puts her own twist on the song — and one that only Lady Gaga could get away with. Let's hope we don't have to wait another four months to see her face again. (Jezebel)
