Say what you will about Dominique Ansel, but the guy knows his audience. Just when we'd reached Peak Cronut, the pastry mastermind has released a new addition to his confectionary arsenal: the Frozen S'More. Released last Friday without fanfare, the treat sold out in minutes. Not to malign the classic graham-cracker-and-Hershey-bar combo, but we're more than a little excited for this highbrow twist.
Ansel's Frozen S'More starts with a vanilla-custard ice cream center, is coated in chocolate feuilletine (light, crunchy cookie flakes), pressed into a gooey marshmallow cream, and then hit with a blowtorch for a crème-brûlée-style shell. Drool-mopping break. And we're back. Next, Ansel whips up a batch of applewood-smoked willow sticks, for that authentic campfire feel, and pops them into the Frozen S'More base. The treat comes together as chewy and crunchy, sweet and gooey, cold and creamy. We couldn't ask for anything more — except a shorter line. (Thrillist)
