There isn't much we can add to the tragic discussion of the accidental overdose and death of beloved Glee star Cory Monteith, except to once again reiterate that our hearts go out to anyone affected by his passing. Forgoing her sassy, smart-talking persona, Jane Lynch spoke to Jay Leno last night about the "bright light" that was Monteith, holding back tears and commenting that he never "left a day unlived." While Lynch holds it together during Leno's almost light-hearted banter (did his tone feel weird to anyone else?), she struggles to keep tears at bay — and the viewer struggles with her. Though Lynch's Coach Sue character has flung many an insult towards Monteith's Finn, it is clear that, offscreen, the two actors had a deep respect and love for one another. Of course, if Jane Lynch cries, we cry as well. That's just how it goes.
