NBC's would-be Project Runway has up and left the building, leaving host Jessica Simpson sans a spot on reality TV (for now). Fashion Star, the network's fashion-competition program whose prize wasn't a runway show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week will not be returning for a third season. After losing Elle Macpherson as judge and H&M as a retail partner, the show faced more trials when the crew went on strike just as the second season began filming.
We regret to say that this comes as no surprise. The show's second season finale drew a measly 2.5 million viewers, which might have to do with NBC demoting the show from Tuesday nights to Fridays.
However, we've got a feeling Simpson won't be hurting too much, since she has a new baby to tend to — plus her Jessica Simpson line is already a fashion star in its own right. Nicole Richie, one of the former judges, has the web series Candidly Nicole going strong, and the show's producers have pegged Mad Men's Janie Bryant for a new reality show. So, NBC's Friday night lineup is the only one losing in this case, but let's be real here — we all know no one is really watching TV on a Friday night. (Fashionista)
