If there's one woman we can count on to look absolutely stunning in a wig that weighs approximately as much as a chihuahua, it's obviously Oprah. On the cover of the latest O Magazine, Oprah dons a three and a half pound wig for a special issue devoted to hair. Needless to say, we're super into it.
Oprah writes in an editorial introduction to the issue that she used to intermittently wear a wig during the filming of her show in order to give her hair a break from the intense styling it underwent, so the cover shot isn't her first foray into the great big world of wigs. She writes that her hairstylist of 30 years, Andre Walker, "loves all kinds of hair textures and adores experimenting." Which is how Oprah wound up with a wig named "Wild Thang" for her fabulous cover shot.
While obviously it's not literally her natural hair, the cover pays homage to the gorgeousness that occurs when hair is encouraged to be as big as possible — something we believe in wholeheartedly. Within the mag, there's a shot of Oprah with her actual natural hair, looking totally gorgeous. We're so excited to devour the rest of this edition, because if it's as wonderful as the sneak preview we just got, it seems destined to become a classic in the natural hair canon.
