UPDATE: A Netflix rep is saying the rumors originally reported by Buzzfeed are not true, E! Online reports. The official line is that the buzz is "not accurate. Our season is still developing and nothing is confirmed." Well, we just breathed a sigh of relief...though it still sounds like this could go either way.
If one had to choose which actress was leaving Orange Is The New Black, they'd have quite a difficult time; even Taryn Manning's Pennsatucky is so deplorable we enjoy her every moment. But sadly, one character isn't coming back, or at least, coming back as a series regular. Given its first season's shocking finale, we'd have plenty of guesses, but it appears that Alex Vause is moving on.
Yep, even though Laura Prepon has received heavy praise for her relatable-but-calculating turn as a drug dealer lesbian, she is leaving the show. Though she will be back to wrap her character's storyline, she opted not to renew her contract, so she will certainly not be appearing in season two.
The Chapman/Vause storyline was central to the initial OITNB plot, and their sexual drama drove a lot of the momentum forward. However, as this is based on a real book, and in real life, the real Piper is happily married to the real Larry. While their relationship is sure to suffer plenty of other ups and downs (and way, way downs) before the series wraps, it looks like the couples' Vause problem may be solved. However — at least in the show — certainly the havoc wreaked by Piper's affair has plenty of dramatic juice left in it before that storyline is wrapped. (Buzzfeed)
