UPDATE: More info has rolled in and according to SF Gate, police have noted that only the less-expensive items were stolen, leaving virtually all of the pricey goodies behind.
There definitely has been a rapid surge of high-end robberies swarming the Bay as of late, from the Rainbow Girls’ dramatic swoop at Burberry and other Union Square shops, and now an ultra-dramatic break-in at everyone's fave blue-boxed icon, Tiffany’s. In fact, the most recent burglary sounds like something ripped from the script of a heist movie, with Walnut Creek Tiffany’s employees waking up to one helluva rude awakening this morning.
According to KRON 4, the luxe jewelry store was completely ransacked last night (seriously, most of the merch is gone!) when a white pickup truck backed into the store around 6 a.m., bashing in the entrance, and three crooks cleared the place out. The suspects exited the store and hopped in a getaway car and took off, leaving the pickup truck behind. Yikes! Obviously, the hunt is on to capture the three, jewelry-swiping bandits. Not exactly the breakfast at Tiffany’s we’d hoped for, eh? (KRON 4)
