Confirmed: Julianne Moore As Alma Coin In The Hunger Games

UPDATE: Lionsgate announced today that Moore is indeed set to play the role of Alma Coin in the upcoming parts one and two of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay films. Good news for our imaginations, considering since this rumor broke, we've been picturing her in the role on the regular. That would be kind of a hard habit to break. (Los Angeles Times)
Originally Published on June 27: In case you needed a reminder that you are obsessed with The Hunger Games and are required by law to freak out over any casting rumors, we've got a great fix for you. Rumor has it that Lionsgate and director Francis Lawrence are gunning for Julianne Moore as the latest addition to the star-studded cast list. Moore, if she agrees, will play the role of manipulative District 13 leader, Alma Coin, in Mockingjay.

This would put Moore in the two final Hunger Games films (with , alongside the likes of Philip Seymour Hoffman, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth (and obviously the mockingjay herself, Jennifer Lawrence). Everyone's favorite redhead is on a bit of a winning streak lately, having just won an Emmy for her performance as Sarah Palin in the HBO movie Game Change. She's also starring in the upcoming Don Jon with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson.
There's no doubt that Moore is quite versatile; and we think she might be just right to pull of this complex (and subtly terrifying) character. Ruthless and an under-the-radar representation of all that's wrong with The Capitol, it's no easy part to play. But what do you think? Is she the right woman for the job? (Deadline)
