Ruth Bader Ginsburg Officiates Same-Sex Wedding, Wins Our Hearts

There have been a lot of heartwarming stories in the fight for marriage equality, but this might be our favorite yet. Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the venerable judge, became the first Supreme Court member to perform a same-sex wedding. Ginsburg presided over the nuptials of her good friend Michael Kaiser, the president of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and economist John Roberts. The big event took place at the Kennedy Center (color us jealous!) with over 200 partygoers.
Of course, this isn't Justice Ginsburg's first foray into the same-sex-marriage fight. She's worked tirelessly for equal rights, and earlier this summer was among the majority for the momentous Supreme Court takedown of DOMA. The, ahem, jury is still out on whether or not she shed a tear during her big wedding speech, but we're pretty sure the whole occasion was legendary, nonetheless. After all, it's pretty hard to top a cameo from the Notorious R.B.G. (NBC News)
