Our fashion week may not be on the same level as New York, London, Milan, and Paris, but we're surely not lacking in design talent. As reported by the L.A. Times, half of the designers participating in this month's "Americans in Paris" program are based in SoCal. The initiative, which was created by the CFDA and Vogue in an effort to support up-and-coming designers from the U.S., will take place at the end of the month during Paris Fashion Week.
The SoCal designers heading to the City of Light are Jennifer Meyer, George Esquivel (of Esquivel Shoes), Juan Carlos Obando, Andrea Lieberman (of A.L.C.) and Greg Chait (of The Elder Statesman). How's that for debunking the myth that L.A. doesn't have a thriving fashion scene? Bonne chance to the fab five! (L.A. Times)
