When we first saw the glorious eye makeup at Chanel's Paris runway show, we were totally captivated by the painterly, pop art-inspired bursts of color around the eyes. While the color palette was clearly carefully chosen, it also resembled a child's interpretation of runway beauty — as though a kid had been giving a coloring book and told not to worry about drawing inside the lines.
But, though the makeup was unique for a runway show, we couldn't help but feel as though we'd seen it before. And then it hit us: This is what Lady Gaga's ARTPOP makeup would have looked like before it was smudged into rainbow puddles. It's ARTPOP deconstructed.
We love the idea of taking a smudgy makeup look and returning it to its original, precise form. What if your fall smoky eye became blocks of fall colors? What if ombré had visible gradations instead of gradual? A whole world of possibilities just opened up.
