Season after season, the Rodarte sisters have been citing their home state as inspiration for their often fantastical designs. But, instead of speaking through their clothing, this time, Kate and Laura Mulleavy took T Magazine to their home to see, firsthand, the Santa Cruz, CA, that's been fueling their imaginations — and their beyond-popular RTW collections.
In a feature out today, we all get a taste at the skate-and surf-culture town where the Mulleavy sisters were raised. We travel along as they giddily point out the diverse and colorful — although perhaps dressed in head-to-toe black — locals, the lively boardwalks, and the apple orchid right near their childhood house. Serving up the perfect dose of nostalgia — for the world-renowned designers and us — T not only captures the duo happily reliving their fondest and most distant memories, but also preserving them through their designs. Click over to read the story in its entirely, and view the beautiful shots that place the Rodarte fall pieces, modeled by Chloe Nørgaard, in their natural element. (T Magazine)
