Get ready for a Justin Bieber media overhaul. For the next ten weeks, the Biebs is releasing a new track every Monday, culminating in the release of his next major LP. The aptly titled Music Mondays has been touted as, in Bieber's own words, his "music journals." Expect some serious feelings, guys.
"Heartbreaker" is the first track (and rumored single) of the series, and reads like an ode to his shuttered relationship with Selena Gomez. It's a poppy, acoustic ballad that, as the performer puts it, "means so much to me to be able to share what I was, and still am going through, with my fans." So, if this song is proof, he's still not over Gomez. And, while some might find an uncanny similarity in the track's artwork and Kanye West's 808s & Heartbreak album, there's nothing Kanye about the song — a welcome departure from the heavily hip-hop-influenced sound Bieber was approaching.
"Sometimes love goes from sunshine to rain / And you know I'm under this umbrella / Calling your name." Your move, Selena. (Complex)
