Well, well, if reports are to be believed it looks like fast-fashion giant Primark is packing its (paper) bags and heading Stateside. According to Drapers and The Sunday Times, America is “a long-term ambition” for Primark, which has already conquered the U.K., Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, and will launch in France this winter.
The article mentions the brand’s strong sales growth but fails to report their culpability in the devastating factory collapse in Bangladesh. Perhaps this is because following the tragedy, Primark was the first U.K. brand to sign the Bangladesh Fire and Safety Agreement and is “working toward” offering workers a living wage. But, is just working toward that goal enough? Would you feel comfortable shopping there?
