Elle's November issue is themed around women in Hollywood, and they've tapped one of our favorite funny ladies, Melissa McCarthy, for one of its six covers. McCarthy's featured, along with some of the usual suspects — Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, and Naomie Harris – but it's The Heat star's cover we're really digging. We're not used to seeing her all glammed up, with tousled hair, and wearing a gorgeous Marina Rinaldi wool cashmere coat and white-gold and diamond earrings from Plukka. She's looking very va-va-voom.
Inside the issue, McCarthy discusses the secret to her comedy success. "A lot of times, women have had all their tools taken away. ... It's like you're never inappropriate, you have the greatest job, you look great, your hair is amazing, and now go be funny. And it's like, with what? You have to fall down for us to want to watch you get back up. And it's like they never let you watch women fall down."
We think she looks great, but when the ladies of Go Fug Yourself compared McCarthy's picture to the magazine's other cover images, they had a bone to pick with Elle. "The coat looks good on her. But I'm going to say it: Next to these other covers — Shailene Woodley is in underwear; Cotillard, a sports bra — I kind of can't believe they put the plus-size actress on their cover BURIED INSIDE A GIANT COAT." What do you think? Head on over to Go Fug Yourself to check out all of the covers. The Elle Women in Hollywood issue is on stands now. (Go Fug Yourself)
