Want to dress like a chic Parisian? Of course you do. But mastering the secrets to style à la Français not quite how we imagined. Inès de la Fressange—you know, Yves Saint Laurent's former muse and French model par excellence—has been dishing her style secrets, and there isn't the merest whiff of a Breton stripe.
In an interview with the
Guardian
, Inès says that kid's clothing stores are her go-to if she wants to find a decent jacket. "I often shop in the H&M's boy's department or there is a French store, Soeur, for teenage girls. Their jackets are narrow and cropped. That's what makes them feminine," she told the newspaper. "Mine today is a little too tiny for me — if it was bigger, I might look like a politician."
She also has controversial views on washing jeans, or to be more accurate, strongly believes that one should avoid allowing your favourite denim to get washed at all. "A million pairs of jeans look awful with too many holes and washes...you need a dark one that you don't wash – the APC low-rise are good, they fit a lot of people." She's not alone, apparently: "I saw on Twitter this morning that Tommy Hilfiger said not to wash his jeans. You dry clean them, though – I'm French but clean!"
