Derek Lam’s Next Move May Be His Prettiest Yet

Well, this is going to be gorgeous: Estée Lauder is collaborating on a makeup line with Derek Lam, to launch in January. As reported by Women's Wear Daily, Lam developed the collection in conjunction with Estée Lauder's creative makeup director, Tom Pecheux, who has done Lam's runway makeup for years. While it's not positioned to have a massive rollout (it'll be sold in only 180 locations worldwide), it is positioned to be the next thing that we want in our lives, immediately.
The collection will have five products, each more gorgeous-sounding than the next: "Kajal Crayon in Near Night, a navy blue; The Mascara in Black Black; The EyeShadow in Smoked Gold; The LipColor in Smoked Blush, and The Gloss in Barely Gold." Barely gold and smoked gold? Can you even think of anything that sounds prettier? We certainly can't. And, it all comes in a satin, hard-case navy Derek Lam clutch. We're drooling.

As for the goal of the collection? Lam said that he loves the idea of women using his makeup like his ready-to-wear collection: "As part of the wardrobe that creates personality and a style." He told WWD, "I wanted that functionality in the makeup line. I also wanted to translate what I’m seeing in fabrics and textures into the cosmetics.”
The bottom line: January can't come soon enough. (Women's Wear Daily)
