If you logged onto Harper's BAZAAR's website this morning, you probably noticed something a wee-bit different. The brand debuted a brand-new layout today, complete with new content and updated verticals. Since we know a little something about executing a redesign, we were eager to check it out. The new site is all kinds of streamlined, with an easy-on-the-eyes aesthetic that emphasizes white space and organization. And, that's something we can totally get behind.
In addition to the stylistic changes, the new BAZAAR.com also offers fashion and lifestyle coverage you can't get from the print edition. In a press release, magazine staff touted the addition of #TheList, an all-digital feature based on one of the glossy's most popular sections that shows off awesome products. Editors will tap style influencers like Annabelle Dexter-Jones and Jean Paul Gaultier to share a few of their favorite things.
According to Joyann King, the site's director, the goal of the redesign was to cash in on (and expand) user engagement. "Fashion-focused users are hungry for fresh, timely inspiration and information that they can react to instantly," said King. "The visual and functional integration of the site ramps up the content and user interaction in every form, from engagement with our editors, to sharing their favorite stories and then buying what they love. It’s a daily resource for the fashion obsessed." It looks like your lunch hour just got a whole lot busier.
