Rejoice! Shiny New Tina Fey Sitcom To Air On NBC

30 Rock 's Tina Fey and Robert Carlock have just received a 13-episode commission for a new comedy from NBC. As a bonus, the series is set to star The Office's Ellie Kemper. The big idea? A woman who “escapes from a doomsday cult and starts life over in New York City.” There will be no Fey in front of camera sadly.
Gawker reports that some NBC executives aren't happy about the script, and are worried that the premise might be offensive. Still, they are putting on a brave face.
Jennifer Salke, President of NBC Entertainment, praised Fey and Carlock for their "original voices." She added "And to have them working with Ellie Kemper—who we watched grow up on The Office from supporting player to leading actress — puts the whole package together. We feel fortunate to be in business with this entire creative team on something so funny, unique, and attention-getting." Details about when the show will air are yet to be released.
