Within a matter of minutes, you'll be entranced: The professional world of ballet, as seen through AOL On Originals' new docuseries
city.ballet., is even more grueling, beautiful, captivating, and inspiring than one might have anticipated. And, coming from a writer who has been a lifelong lover of dance, that's not nothing.
The series was conceived and produced by New York City Ballet board member Sarah Jessica Parker. It takes viewers through the ranks of NYCB — from Apprentice to Corps de Ballet, Soloist to Principal. We think it's one incredible journey

In the pilot episode, Peter Martins, NYCB's Ballet Master In Chief, explains the need for dancers to be focused: "You have to be hungry. You have to be musical. You have to be committed. You have to work hard. You have to, hopefully, not get injured. Nobody sits still here. Complacency does not exist at the New York City Ballet. And, if it does, it's... [insert 'see ya later' gesture here]."
