You can't deny the extreme dedication, determination, and drive required to make it in this challenging industry. In the pilot episode, Peter Martins, NYCB's Ballet Master In Chief, explains the need for dancers to be focused: "You have to be hungry. You have to be musical. You have to be committed. You have to work hard. You have to, hopefully, not get injured. Nobody sits still here. Complacency does not exist at the New York City Ballet. And, if it does, it's... With such high demands, this taxing lifestyle seems like it can be exhausting and disheartening. And, the series makes it clear that these dancers endure a lot.
