After a brief outage last night, the Apple Store is back online. And, with its return comes the iPad Mini with Retina Display! The new tablet had previously been given a vague "in November" release date, but it is now available for purchase. Though Apple didn't officially announce the move, the company will continue to sell the new tablets until stock runs out. And, if reports are to be believed, the new iPad Mini supply is quite tight, thanks to a smaller-than-expected inventory of the new Retina Display screens. So, if you're inclined, get one now rather than later.
The new iPad Minis begin at $399 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model and $529 for the 16GB 4G model, with storage options at 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, or 128GB. They're available in space gray and black, but you shouldn't spend too long hemming and hawing over that because, again, these will definitely sell out.
In terms of what you get, the new iPad Minis include the 64-bit A7 chip, double the wireless performance, and, of course, that crisp display. Apple even sweetened the pot when it made its entire (and significantly redesigned) iLife and iWork suites free.
